Reverso Outboard Flushing System Installation: A Small Upgrade That Makes Routine Maintenance Easier

One customer wanted an easier way to flush his outboards, so we recommended a Reverso Outboard Flushing System. During the conversation, he mentioned that he also wanted an easier way to flush his Seakeeper gyro. We looked at whether we could incorporate that into the same system, and ultimately did.

The project started with a customer looking for an easier way to flush his outboards. We recommended a Reverso Outboard Flushing System, which automates the process through permanently plumbed freshwater connections. During that conversation, he mentioned another maintenance task he wished could be just as simple: flushing his Seakeeper gyro. We told him we could look at incorporating the Seakeeper's raw-water circuit into the same flushing system.

Neither job was difficult on its own. The inconvenience was having to treat them as two separate routines every time the boat was used.

Sometimes the best improvements don't add horsepower or new electronics. They simply make owning the boat easier.

Looking Beyond the Standard Installation

We ultimately configured a three-engine Reverso system to handle both. Two circuits were connected to the outboards, while the third was used for the Seakeeper gyro's raw-water circuit. The result was one system that could handle both flushing tasks from a single setup.

The customer connects one hose, presses one button, and the Reverso system flushes the outboards before automatically flushing the Seakeeper gyro. Instead of remembering multiple maintenance routines, everything happens as part of one simple process.

Why That Matters

Routine maintenance is much more likely to get done when it's convenient.

By reducing the number of steps involved after a day on the water, this customer is more likely to flush both his engines and his Seakeeper every time he uses the boat. Over the long run, that's exactly the kind of small improvement that helps protect expensive equipment.

It's a relatively small upgrade, but one that removes a little friction from boat ownership every single time the boat comes home.
