Seakeeper Ride is not a trim tab and it is not the gyro that sits in the bilge. It is a pair of controllers mounted on the transom below the waterline that read how the boat is moving and correct it while you run. Seakeeper's own figures are up to 100 adjustments a second and up to 70 percent of the pitch and roll taken out underway.
What it does under way
Ride works on pitch, roll and yaw while the boat is moving: less bow rise getting on plane, less lean through a turn, and a steadier boat in a chop. It runs automatically from the helm, so there is nothing to trim by hand.
What fitting one involves
The controllers mount on the transom below the waterline, the wiring runs forward to a display at the helm, and the system gets set up and proven on the water before the boat goes back to you.
Whether it suits your boat
Seakeeper sizes Ride by hull type and length, and transom space, engine and jack plate clearance all matter. Send a photo of your transom and tell us the boat and the power, and you will get a straight answer about whether it is worth doing.
Our process
How an install runs
Talk it through
What the boat is, how you run it and what the ride is doing now.
Size it
Seakeeper specifies the controller for your hull, not us guessing.
Quote it
Pricing depends on the boat, the system required and the scope of the installation, so we'll put together an estimate based on your specific setup.
Fit it
Transom mounting, wiring back to the helm, clean and corrosion protected.
Prove it
Set up and run on the water before the boat goes back to you.
Questions
Seakeeper Ride, answered
Is Seakeeper Ride the same as a Seakeeper gyro?
No. The gyro is a flywheel inside the boat and does most of its work at rest. Ride mounts on the transom and works while you are underway, on pitch, roll and yaw.
What size boats does it fit?
The correct Seakeeper Ride system and controller configuration depends on the boat manufacturer, model and size. We'll determine the appropriate setup for your boat as part of the estimate.
How much difference does it make?
Seakeeper publishes up to 70 percent of pitch and roll removed underway. What your boat gets depends on the hull, the load and the sea state, which is why the honest answer starts with a conversation about your boat.
Do you fit it, or does it go somewhere else?
We fit it. Mounting, wiring, the helm display and the setup on the water are all part of the job.
What does it cost?
Pricing depends on the boat, the system required and the scope of the installation, so we'll put together an estimate based on your specific setup.
